About Vaughan Bassett
Vaughan-Bassett got its start in the mountains of Virginia. Founded in 1919 by B.C. Vaughan and J.D. Bassett, Sr., the company focused its efforts on bedroom furniture. If Bassett rings a bell when discussing furniture, it’s because J.D. Bassett, Sr. also founded what is today known as Bassett Furniture Industries, along with his brother, C.C. Bassett.
Today Vaughan Bassett employs about 700 people in factories based in Galax, Virginia, and Elkin, North Carolina. This means that their bedroom furniture is proudly made in the United States by American workers. Furthermore, 99% of their lumber is sustainably harvested within 500 miles of their factories. In fact, over 1.5 million trees have been planted on their behalf by the Virginia Department of Forestry since 2007.
