Plush Mattresses

About Our Plush Mattresses

A plush mattress has quilting sewn under its surface fabric. This makes a plush mattress softer than a firm mattress, but not as soft as a pillow top mattress, making it a great choice for stomach and side sleepers. For side sleepers especially, the softness of the bed’s surface allows the mattress to contour to your body without you sinking in too far. In doing so, a plush mattress helps to maintain proper spinal alignment.

Plush mattresses are comfortably soft, but still supportive enough to relieve pressure points. If you’re a side sleeper who often wakes with soreness in your hips and shoulders, your current mattress is probably too firm. City Mattress wants you to get the most restful, rejuvenating sleep possible, and we’re committed to helping you find the right plush mattress for you. Whether you prefer the sturdy comfort of a regular plush mattress or the extra softness of an ultra-plush mattress, we have options for everyone.

Our Plush Mattress Options

Most plush mattresses incorporate a layer of memory foam or latex sewn over a coil or innerspring support layer. However, City Mattress also offers plush mattresses with support layers of innerspring, latex, or memory foam. Whatever mattress material you prefer, we have it in the plush comfort level. We also carry hybrid plush mattresses, which combine an innerspring support layer with a comfort layer of memory foam or latex. Many of our plush mattresses are  adjustable friendly, which means they can be used in conjunction with adjustable beds.

City Mattress offers plush mattresses in a full range of sizes. Whether you’re searching for your next plush queen mattress, plush king mattress, or any other size, we have what you need. Our trusted, quality brands of plush mattresses include Aireloom, PranaSleep, Sealy, Serta, Simmons, Stearns & Foster, Tempur-Pedic, Vispring, and our own line of City Mattress products. Learn More About Plush Mattresses

A plush mattress has a softer feel than a firm mattress, while not being as soft as a pillow or euro top. It's the type of mattress that you gently sink into, cradling and hugging you as you fall asleep, while still providing good support.

Experts generally recommend that back or stomach sleepers get a firm mattress, and side sleepers get a plush mattress. Some stomach sleepers may be more comfortable on a plush mattress, because their body shape causes arching of the spine on a firm mattress. Ultimately the choice is yours. You can choose a plush mattress, even if you sleep on your stomach or back, as long as the mattress is comfortable and supportive.

You may have been told that a plush mattress simply doesn't offer enough support to maintain good back health or help to reduce back pain. This is not entirely true, because support and mattress feel are not the same thing. As long as your plush mattress is made by a high-quality brand and features a firm support layer, you should enjoy sleeping on it and wake up pain free.

Today's mattresses are not made to be flipped. Most experts will tell you to rotate your mattress every 6-12 months instead. This will allow you to utilize all of the mattress over time.

Different mattress toppers achieve different things. If your plush mattress is still too firm, adding a down or cotton topper can help make it plusher. On the other hand, if you’re still feeling pain after sleeping, adding a memory foam mattress topper can provide a bit more firmness and relieve troublesome pressure points. Either way, you only need to use a mattress topper if your mattress isn’t quite as comfortable as you’d like.

Remember, support and comfort feel are not the same thing. As long as your ultra plush mattress has a strong support layer, you will still wake up pain-free.

If your plush mattress doesn’t include a mattress protector or cover, you should invest in a quality mattress protector. Spills and stains can void the warranty of your mattress, as well as cause damage to the layers underneath.
